Breast Augmentation
Several techniques for your breast augmentation are available and based on the condition of your breasts, skin tone, and lifestyle, Dr. Young can suggest the most appropriate one.
It is important for Dr. Young to have a clear understanding of your goals for the breast augmentation procedure. After understanding what you hope to accomplish, Dr. Young can determine if the procedure can help meet your expectations.
Be prepared to discuss the following breast augmentation topics with the doctor:
- Type of Implant (Silicone or Saline)
- Size of the Implant (bring in pictures of sizes which you like)
- Shape of the Implant (round or teardrop)
- Incision Placement (where the breast meets the chest, the areola (the dark skin surrounding the nipple), the armpit))
- Location of the Implant (above or below the muscle).
Dr. Young will make every effort to ensure that the incision is placed so resulting scars will be as inconspicuous as possible. Working through the incision, the doctor will lift your breast tissue and skin to create a pocket, either directly behind the breast tissue or underneath your chest wall muscle (the pectoral muscle). The implants are then centered beneath your nipples.
Prior to the surgery, Dr. Young will provide a list of guidelines for preparation for surgery. A mammogram may be necessary depending on your age and health history.
The best way to get more information on breast augmentation is to visit with Dr. Young during a consultation. We recommend you write a list of questions and bring that with you to the appointment.
