St. Louis Otoplasty

Protruding or disproportionally sized ears can have a big impact on you or your children’s self-esteem. When Dr. Young sees patients with this condition, he will often times recommend an otoplasty or ear pinning procedure. The otoplasty procedure will reposition the ears by pulling them closer to your head to give a more natural appearance. There are a couple of methods for the otoplasty procedure and Dr. Young will cover them thoroughly during your consultation.

When you come in for a consultation, Dr. Young will talk to you about what you hope to accomplish with the procedure. It is important that you be candid about your expectations as this will help Dr. Young determine if the procedure is right for you. After an examination of your ears, he can then give you his expert advice on what can be achieved by having the otoplasty procedure. You should plan on being in the office for 60 to 90 minutes during your initial consultation with the doctor.

The otoplasty procedure is done on an outpatient basis and can take anywhere from 1 to 3 hours depending on what your individual requirements. You should plan on having somebody come to the procedure with you to drive you home.
