Facial and Laser Treatments

Non Surgical Procedures

Non-surgical options for aging changes in the face include Botox and fillers. These are injections done in the office with little down time.Botox works by stopping the action of small muscles that cause specific wrinkles. It is ideal for areas like the frown lines between the eyebrows and can be used for other areas in the upper face, lower face, and neck.Achieving the desired effect is dependent upon the skill and experience of the physician or nurse giving the injections. Fillers, as the name implies, act by plumping up skin creases with hyaluronic acid, a substance found naturally in the skin. Juvederm and other fillers may be useful for larger folds like the creases between the nose and the mouth or smaller lines around the mouth. Although these treatments are not permanent, they can be repeated if the results have met expectations. Botox and fillers are popular with males and females as a way to rejuvenate the face without surgery.

Lasers, which deliver a single wavelength, and Broad Band Light which delivers multiple wavelengths, can be used to treat a variety of problems. The laser is used for a micro peel which can penetrate the skinas surface with more precision than the once popular chemical peel or dermabrasion. The procedure, Fractional Resurfacing, uses the laser energy to penetrate deeper into the skin to promote skin tightening.Downtime is proportional to the depth of treatment.Broad Band Light is used with specific filters to select the desired wavelengths for treatment of red spots, brown spots, hair reduction, or skin tightening. All of these treatments can be done in the office with topical anesthesia and can be combined in one session to target the areas of concern.
